ACCOMMODATIONS
Here is a PDF document with a description of NYC hotels
You should make hotel reservations as soon as possible. Be aware that tax on hotel rooms in NY is around 14%. NYC is a major tourist attraction, and a lot of visitors find hotel special-rate deals on the web (via orbitz.com, hotels.com, expedia.com or google.com; search for NYC hotels). These sources sometimes have the best prices, so you may want to check them against the conference rates before making reservations.
NYC/Manhattan is easy to navigate, most of the island is a grid with "Avenues" running north and south (uptown and downtown, respectively) and "Streets" running east and west (crosstown). Directions are frequently given as cross streets rather than address numbers. For more details about getting around in the city via buses, subways or taxis, see the Travel To and Within New York City section. For more details on the location of the recommended hotels, visit

(to figure routes use the following address / zipcode for the AMNH: Central Park W & 79th Street / 10024).
